1Pe 4:1-5 ESV
(1)
Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the
same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased
from sin,
(2) so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.
(3) For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles
want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies,
drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.
(4) With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you;
(5) but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
We are not of this world and our thinking is armed with the helmet of
salvation in Jesus. A true disciple of Christ will not be doing things
like the world, but will cease from the sin that had them entangled
before. Lay the sin and weight behind and press on in Christ! Let us not
practice lawlessness but keep ourselves pure and armed with the same
mind of Christ.
Heb 12:1-2 KJV
(1) Wherefore seeing we also
are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay
aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let
us run with patience the race that is set before us,
(2) Looking
unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that
was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set
down at the right hand of the throne of God.
You are loved in Jesus,
