Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Have you ever thought about the words you are saying? There are many verses in the Bible that refer to the spoken words of the tongue and what it produces when they are released. As an example of the power of words our Heavenly Father created the very galaxies with His spoken Word and Jesus cursed the fig tree with the words He spoke unto it. When we look at Proverbs 18:21 we can see both sides, death and life, they operate in the power of the tongue. I've heard it said and taught that the believer carries more authority with their tongue than an unbeliever and I have to agree 100% with that because when we are born again we have a new realm of authority that Jesus Christ purchased for us at the cross.
Perhaps you may be going throughout the day worrying about people cursing you with their words and unfortunately many times it is a born again Holy Spirit filled Christian that is releasing the ill words in judgment against another. It doesn't matter who speaks it, we still use the Word of the LORD to combat against it. Wake up in the mornings and quote Isa 54:17 "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the LORD."
My wife and I believe in speaking positive confessions during our prayer time and throughout the day from the Holy Scripture. We encourage you to make it your choice too by edifying yourself and others with such Scriptures like Phil 4:13 "I can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens me." Put your name in there and your friends when you quote it. Say it with the joy and authority that Jesus already gave you! Have a wonderful and extravagantly blessed day! - Gary
